Police Searching For Man Who Robbed Long Island Bank At Gunpoint

An investigation is underway after a man robbed a Long Island bank at gunpoint.

The robbery happened at the Capital One Bank, located at 2303 Grand Ave. in Baldwin, at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police said the man approached the teller demanding money, and gave the teller a demand note. NCPD said the man then displayed a handgun.

The teller complied and the suspect ran away with an undetermined amount of money, police said.

He was last seen traveling south on Grand Avenue, authorities said. 

At the time of the robbery, there were seven employees and one customer in the bank, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police said the suspect was described as being a Black man in his late 40s to early 50s with an average build.

He was wearing a black jacket, black pants, a black knit hat with a brim, black gloves, and a blue surgical mask, NCPD said.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the case to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
